How do I pay for my Tour?

When booking your tour you will be advised of the payment form.

How do I remain healthy?

You may need to get vaccinations depending on the areas you are visiting, taking anti malaria medication may also be needed, but check this with your doctor before leaving home. When visiting Latin America there are many places visited at high altitudes such as La Paz, Bolivia, Puno and Cusco, Peru where you may experience altitude sickness, symptoms are headaches, dizziness, dehydration, a pounding heart, breathlessness, stomach upset and insomnia. Best to take it easy at the start and drink plenty of fluids. Consult your pre departure booklet for more information about staying healthy.

Is it all right to travel on my own?

Many people come on Go Latin America tours in pairs or couples but most people come alone and make many new friends and have a fantastic time.

What if we want a tour for a group of friends alone?

Go Latin America is so familiar with the countries we travel, we are happy to make special arrangements for groups people no matter the size. We can make an itinerary that suits your group and help you create the trip of a lifetime.

What language do the people speak?

The majority of the countries we visit speak Spanish with some local languages in remote areas.

When should I arrive for the tour?

It is a good idea to arrive at least a day before your tour starts so you can settle in and ready yourself. In some cases the tour leader is not at the start destination so the Local Representative will take care of you until you meet the tour leader on day 2.

What is the accommodation like?

We try where ever possible to use house style hotels that have the local charm. All the hotels we use are clean comfortable and hot water (although this can sometimes be a problem in some areas) All have safety deposit boxes for your valuables and laundry services. All accommodation is on a twin share basis, although at times there might be a need for 3 to 4 people need to share. Go Latin America will try and ensure that this does not happen on a regular basis.

What documents will I receive from GO Latin America?

On receipt of your deposit Go Latin America will send you an information package, containing a pre departure booklet and trip itinerary when final payment is made you will receive a tour voucher which is to be presented to the tour leader at the pre departure meeting at the start of your tour.

Do I need a passport and visas?

Yes, Everyone travelling to Latin America needs a passport with at least 6 months validity after your tour finishes. It is a good idea to photocopy all your travel documents and leave one set at home and take one copy with you. As well you will need to take with you 2 passport photos one you will give to your tour leader along with a photocopy of passport. You may need a visa to some of the countries in Latin America, please see the visa section of this website or the consulate,  this is your responsibility.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on all Go Latin American tours. If you arrive in Latin America without insurance will need to purchase a policy in Latin America that will prove very expensive.

What about money?

In Latin America, the American dollar is accepted almost everywhere, so it is a good idea to carry American dollar travelers cheques and a small amount of dollars in small denominations, this will prove less of a drama as in some places they do not have sufficient change. Your tour leader will tell you the best place to change money on tour. Credit cards are widely accepted and getting cash from machines in major towns is easy but in small rural areas is not so easy.
